twitterdum twitterdee

My head is spinning with all the bits of unremarkable comments on twitter. Library twitter accounts have some interest but in these times of instant gratification these accounts need some hyperlinks...is that still a technology word?

Library Thing

I took the LibraryThing tour and found it useful and pretty straight forward. I created an account for myself and I do believe that I will use it for my personal book lists etc. I use my own reading choices as a source for recommending titles to customers so, yes, there is a practical application for both home and work.

Online Productivity Tools

Free online tools are certainly the way of the future. Why buy software when you have the use of comparable products free. Google Docs is a great resource and easy to use particularly if you have experience with similar products.

To Flickr or not to Flickr

I actually like Flickr as a product to edit and organize photos but sharing is another story...one wonders if I have a problem sharing. YouTube was fun and yes it was pretty user friendly.

RSS

Surprisingly I was successful in setting up a couple of RSS feeds. I say surprisingly because I wasn't sure that it had worked as I didn't know what visual cue to look for. However, I can see where it could be convenient if you are keeping up with a very particular subject. Cheers.

Google Products

Google Translator is, I think, one of the best online translators that I have used. Communicating in German with a brother in Austria is challenging and I find myself in need of a translator quite often. I find the instant translation option absolutely wonderful...no more writing a sentence and pressing the translate button. This product also lets you upload documents and Webpage URLs to be automatically translated. Who needs language classes?

It would be an understatement to say that I am a reluctant social networker. For those of you out there with the energy to connect and share information well done. If you would like to get the scoop about me...lets have lunch.

Wikipedia, while a very popular free online encyclopedia, is not a web site that I use for reader's advisory or for my personal use. I looked up a number of subjects such as Memorial Park Library and Jane's Walk and found what looked like good information...no obvious factual or grammatical errors.

CPL's delicious favorites

Tagging stored information is so important to the retrieval of that information. Being able to keyword search for information is incredibly fast and easy...really important in our line of work.

What am I hoping to learn from CPL 2.0?

Well, I'm relieved to be here at last. With some help from my wonderful colleagues I have already learned a great deal about how you start a blog. I am hoping that CPL 2.0 will teach me a little bit about a great many new technologies and that I can embrace them all.
